Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) In Kanata

Silver 7 Dental welcomes patients covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Our Kanata dental
team can help you understand the dental care being recommended, submit an estimate when
appropriate and explain any amount you may need to pay before treatment begins.
Already covered by the CDCP? Contact Silver 7 Dental to request an appointment
and have your coverage information available.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a federal program designed to help make oral health care more
affordable for eligible Canadian residents who do not have access to private dental insurance. Eligibility
is determined by the Government of Canada, and patients must renew or reapply as required for each
benefit period.
The CDCP is not the same as private dental insurance and does not necessarily pay the full cost of treatment. Coverage depends on the patient's eligibility, the service provided, CDCP rules, frequency limits, and weather preauthorization is requied.

Who may qualify for the CDCP?

According to the Government of Canada, an applicant must meet all four eligibility requirements:

• Have no access to private dental insurance or coverage.
• Have filed the required Canadian tax return, including the spouse or common-law partner's return when
applicable.
• Have an adjusted family net income below $90,000.
• Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Eligibility is determined by the Government of Canada, not by Silver 7 Dental. For current eligibility and
application information, visit Canada.ca/dental.

Dental services that may be covered

When clinically recommended and eligible under the plan, the CDCP may help pay for a range of oral
health services. Examples may include:
• Dental examinations and X-rays
• Preventive care such as scaling, fluoride and sealants
• Restorative care such as permanent fillings
• Periodontal services, including certain deep-cleaning procedures
• Root canal treatment
• Extractions and other eligible oral surgery services
• Complete and partial removable dentures

This list is not a guarantee of coverage. Some services have frequency limits, and some require
preauthorization before treatment. Silver 7 Dental can discuss the recommended care and, when
appropriate, submit an estimate or required information for review.

Will the CDCP cover my entire dental bill?

Not always. The CDCP reimburses eligible services using CDCP-established fees, which may differ from
the fees charged by a dental office. Depending on adjusted family net income, a patient may have a
CDCP co-payment. A patient may also have additional charges when the clinic fee is higher than the
amount reimbursed by the CDCP or when a chosen service is not covered.
Even when the CDCP covers 100% of an eligible service at the CDCP-established fee, there may still be a
remaining amount. Our team will explain known patient costs before treatment whenever possible.

What to Bing to Your Appointment

• Your CDCP member ID and current coverage information
• Your coverage start date or current Sun Life/Government of Canada letter
• A current list of medications and relevant medical information
• Any recent dental X-rays or records available from your previous dental office
• Information about your dental concerns, goals or questions
Please tell us if your eligibility or coverage information has changed. Coverage should be confirmed at
each visit and before treatment is provided.

Your first CDCP appointment at Silver 7 Dental

At your visit, our team will review your dental and medical history, discuss your concerns and complete
the examination or diagnostic services that are appropriate for you. If additional treatment is
recommended, we will explain the options, expected benefits, possible alternatives and estimated fees.
Where appropriate, an estimate or preauthorization request may be submitted before treatment. A
preauthorization is not a guarantee of payment; eligibility and coverage must still be valid on the date
services are provided.

Yes. Silver 7 Dental welcomes patients covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Please provide your
current CDCP information when requesting your appointment so our team can verify available
information and discuss next steps.

Is dental care free under the CDCP?

Not necessarily. The CDCP may pay all or part of eligible services at CDCP-established fees.
Co-payments and additional charges may apply, even when the plan covers 100% of an eligible service
at the CDCP fee.

How do I know whether I qualify?

Eligibility is determined by the Government of Canada. Current requirements and application
instructions are available at Canada.ca/dental.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring your CDCP member ID, current coverage information or letter, your coverage start date, a
medication list, relevant medical information and any recent dental records or X-rays available.

Can Silver 7 Dental check what the CDCP will pay?

Our team can review available coverage information and may submit an estimate or preauthorization
request when appropriate. Final payment depends on active eligibility, plan rules and the services
provided.

Does every dental treatment require preauthorization?

No. Many eligible services do not require preauthorization, while certain services do. Your dentist will
explain when advance review is required.

Can I book before my CDCP coverage begins?

You should receive care on or after the coverage start date shown in your Government of Canada or Sun
Life information. Contact the clinic if you need help planning an appointment.

Why might I still have an amount to pay?

You may have a co-payment based on adjusted family net income, the clinic's fee may be higher than the
CDCP-established fee, or a service may not be covered. We will explain known fees before treatment
whenever possible.

Do I need to renew my CDCP coverage?

Yes. CDCP eligibility is reviewed by benefit period, and members must renew or reapply as required.
